On This Day in History...

...Reid pooped in the potty!

I need to catch up on blogging but couldn't let this one pass without being noted.

It was mid-bathtime, so once we got back in the tub and finished, we hurried downstairs for a celebratory popsicle and popcorn with marshmallows - one of Reid's favorite snacks. I'm aiming to make this new idea as appealing as possible until the habit forms.

I have been feeling yucky all day but suddenly I'm a little perkier... what a great way to end the day for mom! Hooray! :)

Sick Days...

Following the big snow event, Reid started getting a sick. Nothing too horrible - just a lot of coughing and yuckiness in his chest. The usual for him.

School here was closed 2 full days last week for the snow, which did not affect Reid's preschool schedule, but when regular school opened 2 hours late on Wednesday that meant his school would not open at all. I was bummed but it turned out to be a good thing, since that is the day the sickness really set in. Thursday was the worst overall - we didn't leave the house the entire day, which is a major feat for us.

Reid's appetite was down for 4 or 5 days. I don't think he ate a single "real" meal the entire time. He's back to normal now, though.

Here's what we did do during our sick days...

This was on Thursday. He slept super late and we both stayed in pj's the majority of the day. Here he's just watching some TV in his winter hat. Why not?

Still in pj's... and yes, that's a potty seat on his head. You can tell he had perked up a little. :)

Two days later: Feeling much better, outside "measuring" something for Daddy. He loves to use the measuring tape. Take note of the fact that he is outside in shorts and a t-shirt not even a week after the big snow storm. Gee do you think the crazy weather would have contributed to his sickness? Gotta love a 5-inch snow and 80-degree weekend, all in the same week!

SNOW!

Two good snows in two years - that's a good average for the South!

It rained for three days straight and they were predicting 3-6 inches for Greenville this weekend. Like most everyone, we were thinking "yeah, right." But, as it started sleeting Sunday morning, then really, REALLY snowing Sunday afternoon it became a real possibility. Sure enough - we got a solid 4 inches! Woohoo!

I bought a saucer sled Sunday on a whim. It was fun while it lasted. I got to use it a few times, as did Reid. Then Ross got a hold of it... let's just say it died a sad little death only 18 or so hours after it was purchased. :( But, I digress...

The snow was awesome! Reid was much more into it this year than last year. Part of it was that he is a little older, and the other part is proper footwear! Fortunately, I bought a pair of cute galoshes/snow boots from the consignment shop like 6 months ago. They are from Lands End and have super thick fleece liners. Seriously - his feet were warm as toast, even when the rest of his body was soaked. They completely earned their $14 price tag this weekend.

Here are some pics. I took a ton - these are my favorites!

The big tree by our playground.

Reid and Joshua making snow angels.

Sledding!

Pure joy... check out those big flakes. He was SO excited.

Dad and Reid.

So pretty. I didn't see any major tree damage by our place but we saw a lot just down the road.

The saucer sled - dead. :( You can't really see the big cracks in the pic, but it's a goner.

All bundled up!

I'm thinking about doing this one in black and white for framing. So cute!

Playing cars in the snow... it's just like playing cars in dirt!

Random Fun

We haven't been up to a lot lately - well, not much worth writing about anyway. :) But, we've had some fun days. Here are some pics:

I'm not even sure how to explain this pic. It was laundry day, and Reid loves playing in the dirty laundry pile. Gross, I know. On this day, he decided he wanted to be a ballerina which, in his mind, meant wearing as many pieces of clothing as possible while dancing around. I think he looks like a cute little bag lady. :)

We love, love, love our Chick-fil-a, where they have kids activities every Tuesday morning. Last week was finger painting!

I was so glad these hands were there and not at my house...

Hard at work... you can see a few more pics on the Chick-fil-a website. Just go to the photo gallery - we are in the Finger Painting and Glazing Pot albums.

It rained ALL weekend this past week. Reid and I ventured out to the mall - what was I thinking? - in the rainy mess. It was an adventure but pretty fun, too. We shared a snack from Starbucks and played in the play area for a while. Here is Reid in favorite car...
